Has anyone gotten the new lejos to work on OSX? I love NXC, but I would really love to java on my NXT. The JStamp and other java embedded devices have been too expensive for their features. It would be sad if lejos didn't support OSX as well as win and linux, considering Lego did such a swell job supporting it out of the box.

Anyone have any experience with getting it to work?

I wasn't able to get it to work either.

I don't get it working either, I'm using Windows XP MediaCenter (maybe thats why NXC,NBC, LeJos and NQC don't work with me??).

Andy,

As mentioned before, I am sure that if you email me with exact details regarding what happens on your computer when you try to use NBC/NXC and NQC or BricxCC that I will be able to help you get everything working just fine. Can you do that? I am very sure that these programs can run fine on Windows XP MediaCenter.

I have been very busy with school the last few months, we have had alot of tests and something like a GrandPrix (all students in the school have to participate, GrandPrix is something like Idol) and so on...
I'll download it again and write down the error message I get when I try to run it and send an e-mail to you within the next few days. NQC and BrixCC works fine on my grandfathers computer (I don't remeber how NBC works and I have not tried NXC on his computer yet)...

John is a great guy and has always responded to the email I've sent him. I'm sure he'll get things working.

As far as lejos goes, I'll see if I can give it a go in the next few days. Anyone want to try and IM and attack it at the same time?

Has anyone tried to email the developers regarding OSX?

Cheers,
Aaron R>

Errrr... That's not what I was getting at. I meant has anyone spoken with the lejos developers to see if they are going to formally make releases for OSX, just like they do win and linux.

The NXT runs on OSX out of the box and the lejos environment would be great. While developers such as John H (NXC) are committed to cross platform, it doesn't seem as much of a priority to the lejos devs. Its possible I'm in left field on this, so my apologizes if I am.

I hate that it's not a priority to the lejos and other program developers to make it compatible with OSX. mad.gif

Well, I was able to get it to work! smile.gif Here's what I did -

1. Download and install libusb from http://libusb.sourceforge.net/download.html
2. Extract the files and then go into the libusb directory
3. On the command line do:

CODE

./configure
make
sudo make install

4. Open the ReadMe.html file under the lejos directory, reference it first then do the following
CODE

export LEJOS_HOME=(WHERE YOU EXTRACTED LEJOS)
export PATH=$LEJOS_HOME/bin:$PATH
cd build
ant

5. Put the NXT into firmware mode
6. Pick a sample from the samples directory
7. If you picked HelloWorld do the following
CODE

lejosjc HelloWorld.java
lejoslink HelloWorld -o hello.bin
lejosdl hello.bin

It runs!

For some reason all the apps I tried would run for awhile and then the NXT would reset. I was also suprised that when the NXT reset it was back in firmware mode. I thought it would boot the firmware and then start the java app.

I hope this helps.
